she discusses American idioms and social communication for professionals. She will
lead us in role plays of difficult situations at work as she explains use of body language
and sarcasm with coworkers. Mrs. Burns will also discuss public speaking and
presentation skills.

Elizabeth Burns
M.S., CCC-SLP
Elizabeth is the owner and founder of SpeechMod, which she launched after realizing a need in the market for flexible and personalized accent modification instruction. She has been a speech-language pathologist for more than 20 years and completed the Compton Pronouncing English as a Second Language (PESL) course in 2007. Additionally, she is a trained and approved administrator of the Comprehensive Assessment of Accentedness and Intelligibility (CAAI), the only approach that is based on the latest research. She has conducted presentations on a variety of speech and language topics across the country. She is also a former president of the North Carolina Speech, Hearing, and Language Association.
